NUTRITION IN SPORTS

Hello again everyone! It is Beril . Today I have a very interesting topic to write about also it is very important to athletes .Today I want to write about ‘nutrition in sports’ but before I start I have to warning you: I am not a doctor or nutritionist .I am just a 16 years old professional swimmer who is doing sport actively and racing regularly so I am going to write this article based on my experiences and some of my researches.

First of all I have to say that healthy and balanced diet is so important good performance. we should eat from all three basic food groups: carbohydrates , fats , and proteins .All of them is very necessary for better performance at sport. Carbs is quickest energy source ,proteins is to build muscles and necessary to recovery after exercise , fats is the biggest energy sources. If we even one is missing, the efficiency will decrease in sports .

These days, as everybody knows that there are lots of ‘healthy lifestyle trend’ on social media but  many of them just information pollution because all of them are very wrong and unhealthy .Now, I would like to write about one of them: the gluten-free diet .The gluten free diet is so popular recent days .It is the diet that removes all carbohydrates from our diet to loss weight! But it is too wrong especially for performance athlete because the carbs give as quick energy which is super necessary before and after trainings .Well , if you ask me ‘How do I know that?’ , sadly I have tried it before and I saw the results in myself.

It was last year and I obsessed with my body. That year we were doing weight training a lot so my body was quite bigger than normal and I thought I gained weight (maybe I gained little)so I did some researches on internet and I saw some information about ‘How unhealthy carbs are.’ After that search I started to a gluten free diet. I did not eat any carbohydrate for nearly one month and I keep my training program (6 swimming training and 3 dryland training a week!) and guess what, I lost 5kg in just a month. Nevertheless my swimming performance was getting worse even I was not be able to finish my swimming distances because I did not have enough energy. Also I joined a swimming important swimming race(Turkish National Swimming Race) and I even could not swim my previous times. So after the race I decided to measure my body weight and muscle rate and I found out that I lost 5 kg from my muscles just because of my stupid gluten free diet!!!

So I can say that from my experiences all the food groups, including carbohydrates, are essential for our body’s health and good performance in sports.

HOW SHOULD PEOPLE APPROACH TENNIS TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

Hi guys,

As you know basically talked what is tennis in my previous blog now let’s go deeper.

Tennis is such a long journey so people firstly should ask themselves that Are they having enthusiasm while playing tennis? Because if the answer is they have no change to achieve any success in tennis because people cannot be successful in anything that don’t have desire to do. Then they should choose that do they want to be professional or just want to do it as a hobby? For the success they should choose being professional. Because being professional means is focusing tennis more than anything. I mean putting it center of your life. Then if they are assertive and dedicated their life into this journey with right strategy. They will probably achieve their goals.

MY HARDEST SWIMMING RACE THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET

Hello there, it is Beril . How are you today? I hope you are fine. As you know the title, It is story time😊.I am going to write about one of my hard(even it can be the hardest race I have ever swum!)race.

Actually I just swam that race. It was last Thursday (6th February 2020). First of all It was not a normal pool race because it was 7.5km (by the way ıt is marathon distance in swimming). Normally the longest pool race distance is 1500m.The distances which is longer than 1500m is swum in open water like seas or straits but this time it was swum in the pool because it is winter therewithal it was ‘the national team selection race’ which means referees must observe the whole race.

Honestly it was horrible. Because it was my first time I had never swum a race more than 1500m. Nevertheless all my opponents had swum that kind of long race (like 3km,5km even 7km) before so everybody knew something about race apart from me. I have to admit that before the race I was not even sure about if I can finish the race.

When I started the race my excitement has passed a little but when I finished the first 1500m I think that ‘ıt will never finish !’because as you know 1500m is my longest race distance I have ever swum and when I finished 1500m in open water race I still had 6km!!!(which means four more 1500m) but I think that if I started that race I have to finished it so somehow I could finished.

Now, probably I think that ıt was a race which kills you physically. Actually you are right after the race two swimmer fainted also some of them could not finished the race. But furthermore the race kills you mentally because it is too long. I finished the race in 1 hour and 50 minutes(imagine that you are swimming that long without resting)!!! Or on other hand 7.5km equal 150 labs in the pool!! I am trying to say that you also should be ready in mentally to the race.

When I finished the race honestly I was died in physically but somehow I was feeling so happy because I could have finished 7.5km without stop which mean that I am a really strong swimmer (physically and mentally)😊.

WHAT IS TENNIS?

Hi guys,

I am Berk. As you know I am a professional tennis player who has 18 medals and 5 cups. Let me hear what is tennis from my mouth?

WHAT IS TENNIS?

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net and into the opponent’s court. That’s what basically tennis means for most of the people. You guys think does it mean same to me? Tennis can be defined to me as a life style which makes my life hilarious and unique.

In the world a lot of people play tennis. Mainly these all people have different aim to tennis. Some of the them just play tennis for fun, enthusiasm and to get socialize, some of them play to be healthy. some of them play for competition. That is why I am playing tennis, to competition.

If you are playing tennis for healthy life and to having fun or to get socialized you just need to love tennis and you should enjoy every part of the time that you spend while playing tennis. If you are playing tennis for competition like me. That means tennis is one of your biggest passion. And you need to be dedicated in tennis because it is hard and tiring.

My Role Model Roger Federer: An Admirable Person Or Not?

In the world, there are a lot of people who people can admire. When people consider admirable people, they can hear different answers from different people. For me the answer is just two words, Roger Federer. He is one of the most successful tennis players in the world. He is 37 years old. He is from Switzerland. He has 4 children. He is still playing tennis.

I remembered the first time I actively tried to watch a tennis match. I was sitting in the living room with my dad who loves to watch and do sports. I asked him who was playing. My father told me Roger Federer against Rafael Nadal. I watched him with a lot of excitement. This is how my admiration for him started.

By the way, he has a lot of championships and records like, 20 times Grand slam championships and 27 master and being number one more than others etc. Although, he is really modest and hardworking to achieve more success. He respects all of his opponents. Because of that he is known as ‘your excellency’ in tennis world. Also, tennis players generally give up their tennis career when they are 30, but he did not. Especially, his game plan is unique. I mean he sets up all the points smartly and perfectly. In addition to this, he is a great dad and husband.
